Working Dog Alli - Legacy Dog
Alli, a Red Heeler, was a conservation canine with Rogue Detection Teams. A rogue detection dog, such as Alli, works with a human partner, called a Bounder. Together, they travel to wild spaces. They are searching for the scat of endangered wildlife, bird or bat mortalities, and even butterfly scat (known a frass).
With each non-invasive project they complete, Rogue Dog Teams are helping the world of conservation.
Rogue Dogs usually come from shelters or rescues. Not the ideal house dog, they are perfect candidates to become conservation dogs due to their strong drive to work and their intense focus.
Alli was a Rogue Detection Dog for 15 years. She was a trailblazer, stead fast in her work ethic, wicked smart and an effective communicator. When she was confronted with an unfamiliar situation, she would figure out the best approach and communicate it to her Bounder. Her Bounder could, then, teach it to other Bounders and their dogs.
Alli was a petite dog, with a velvety coat and eyes that held all of her wisdom. The Rogue Dog lifestyle suited her and she was never far from her Bounder. She traveled to Canada, California, Oregon and Washington.
She was able to sniff out scat of the Pacific pocket mouse, marten, Oregon spotted frog and The Oregon Silverspot Butterfly larvae to help in the conservation efforts to save these species.
She also sniffed out bird and bot mortalities at various wind facilities on the west coast.
Alli's superpower was her intelligence. Her ability to figure things out and then proceed to teach it to her Bounder made her an invaluable Rogue Dog.
Alli passed away in 2022 and she is missed by her Rogue Dog family---and many others.
